Registrations and Transfers

13.1 The season runs from the 1st of May to the 30th of April of the following year. Registration
fees for both the Province and SSA are required.

13.2 No affiliated swimming club member may participate at any level 1, 2 or 3 Division Swim
Meet unless registered with KZNA and SSA. They must be in possession of a computer
generated SSA registration number.

13.3 The rule applies to officials, coaches and club administrators who wish to be active on the
pool deck or be involved in the running of swim meets. Timekeepers wishing to keep time at
National events must register.

13.4 At least 3 administrators including a coach of a club are required to register each season.

13.5 Swimmers who participate in Juvenile Relay and level 0 swim meets must register with their
club and KZNA. There is no insurance cover for these swimmers.

13.6 Any member transferring from one club to another within KZNA must first obtain clearance
from his club. The clearance and the new registration form must be submitted to KZNA. A
KZNA clearance fee will be levied when a swimmer changes clubs.

13.7 The South African and KwaZulu Natal registration fees need only be paid once a season.
In accordance with the SSA ruling, transfers are permissible but a swimmer must wait 28
days before a swimmer can swim for their new club. (This ruling discourages swimmers
from changing clubs prior to a major swimming competition)

13.8 Swimmers may only compete for their new club once clearance has been obtained and the
swimmer is registered with their new club. This applies to all swimmers changing clubs
even if they have not participated for a lengthy period, the member concerned will remain
registered with their previous club until the clearance is granted and registration takes
place.

13.9 A club may not withhold or delay a clearance unreasonably.

13.10 Should any problems involving clearances arise they must be immediately reported to Swim
Board in writing.

13.11 A member transferring to another Province must obtain a clearance from both the club and
KZNA. Similarly KZNA require a Provincial and club clearance for any member transferring
to KNZA. The full Provincial registration fee must be paid.

13.12 A member from KZNA, wishing to compete in another Province or Country, requires a
clearance to compete. This clearance must be obtained prior to the member competing.

13.13 Should a swimmer compete at a National Tournament or for their Province or Country, no
clearance is required.

Swimmers Registration Level

13.14 The Level of the swimmer is determined at the beginning of each season based on the SSA
qualifying times.

13.15 Should SSA not issue the new qualifying times by the 30 April, then, the previous year’s
qualifying standards will be used.

13.16 Should SSA issue new qualifying standards after the deadline date then swimmers will be
upgraded or downgraded in accordance with the new times relative to the swimmers age as
the end of the current season. (30 April)

Up-Grades

13.8 Should a Level 0 swimmer improve times during the season and in doing so attain a
standard qualifying time, the swimmer has the choice of upgrading.

13.9 A swimmer who upgrades during the season must pay the additional registration fee
required.

13.10 Swimmers older than 9 years who achieve a National Level 1 qualifying time must upgrade
the following season.
